Brenda Odom

Music  Associate

Office Number: 744-7061

I was born in Birmingham, Al.  My husband and I have lived in different parts of the country and moved to Pleasant Grove in May of 1987.

I have been a church musician since I was in junior high school, playing at churches where my dad pastored.  When I was in college, God  began directing me  toward the music ministry, and I graduated from Judson College with a degree in Music Education. As we moved around the country, my husband and I have always been involved in the music ministry of our church. In fact, the first thing we did  after joining FBCPG was to join the choir together.  Soon after that, I began directing the second and third grade children’s choir.  I became church pianist here in 1990 and volunteer children’s choir coordinator in 1991.  In 1998 I became a full time staff member.  My responsibilities as Music Associate include serving as church pianist, children’s choir coordinator, directing the Joy Bells, maintaining our costumes, directing the Sixth Grade choir, working with committees and anything else that facilitates the music ministry.

My husband Richard and I were high school sweethearts and have been married 29 years.  Our son Jason is an Auburn graduate and is presently working with Student Life while he attends graduate school.  Our daughter Erin is a Sophomore at the University of Montevallo.

My hobbies are reading, watching movies and traveling.

Something not many people know about me is that I was double promoted in  elementary school.

One of my favorite quotes is:  “If it was easy, everyone would do it.”

(Ask my former piano students…that’s what I always said to them.  :)
